Rufus Wainwright Poster

Rufus Wainwright

February 9, 2018

Rufus Wainwright's lush, theatrical pop harks back to the traditions of Tin Pan Alley, cabaret and even opera. Son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, brother to musical siblings Martha and Wainwright, songwriting is in his blood. He remains firmly out of their shadows though, with a folk legacy of his own that includes seven studio albums and a fully-fledged opera.

February 10, 2018

Gladys Knight has never been pigeonholed by her early Motown years. With her backing band The Pips she was one of the label's brightest stars in the late sixties, recording, amongst others, the original version of I Heard it through the Grapevine. She isn't nicknamed 'The Empress of Soul' for nothing. Since then however she's dabbled in jazz, r'n'b and gospel, and secured her place in the annuals of movie history with the theme from 1989's Bond film License to Kill. Rumours are there's a new album in the works so this 2014 tour may well see the premier of new material.

George Benson is quite simply a legend of modern jazz music. A tremendously skilled guitarist and vocalist, his ease with any genre he turns his hand to has meant huge crossover success; in 1976 Benson was the first musician to achieve a platinum-selling jazz album and went on to win an astounding 10 Grammy Awards. From bebop to pop, this musical great can do it all and with a charming smile to boot.

Idan Raichel is renowned in his native land for his intoxicating mixture of African, Israeli and Arabic rhythms, brought to life by his band The Idan Raichel Project. This multi-ethnic, multi-genre group first burst onto the scene in their 2002 eponymous debut, and have since become torchbearers for cultural and ethnic harmony throughout the region.
