Born Ahmed Ololade in Lagos, Nigeria, the multi-award-winning singer, rapper and songwriter Asake originally trained in theatre, but his transition to music was completed when his 2022 album Mr. Money exploded in popularity and saw him touring around the world, breaking the record for biggest African opening-day album on Apple Music in the process. His style, melding together traditional Yoruba vocals and Nigerian Fuji music with Afrobeats, street-pop and English, he has rightly received nominations at the Grammys, MTV Awards and Billboard Awards, as well as countless wins around the world.
